Where to list your business in Watford: local directories and free promotion options

Practical ways to promote a Watford business, from free directory listings and Google profiles to local business networks and support.

Help the right local customers find you

A cafe on The Parade, a salon in Garston and an electrician covering Bushey and Croxley Green need slightly different ways to reach customers. Whatever you do, the basics are the same: make it easy for people to see what you offer, where you work and how to get in touch.

This guide brings together our own directory, Google's free business profiles and local organisations worth knowing about. Some options are free and others involve membership or a fee. Pick the ones that fit your customers rather than paying to appear everywhere.

List free on WatfordDirectory.uk

A Standard listing here is free. You get your own page with a description, the areas you serve, your services, a website link and contact details, and every listing is reviewed by our team before it goes live. Businesses that want more visibility can choose the optional Featured upgrade.

Write your description for a local reader: say what you do, which areas you cover and what makes you easy to deal with. A clear photo or logo helps your page stand out.

Google Business Profile

Eligible businesses that meet customers in person can create a free Google Business Profile for Search and Maps; a mobile business can show its service area and hide a home address. Keep your opening hours, phone number and photos up to date, and reply to reviews politely - customers notice.

Local business networks and support

If you trade in the town centre, Watford Town Centre BID represents nearly 500 businesses that fund it through a levy, and runs events, promotions and the Watford Gift Card. Watford Borough Council also lists business support partners on its website.

Across the county, the Hertfordshire Growth Hub offers free business advice, and Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce runs networking and membership services. Charities and community groups can get support from Watford & Three Rivers Trust.

Keep your details fresh

Once your listing is live, check it from time to time. If you already appear on WatfordDirectory.uk, open your business page and choose Edit this listing to request a link sent to the email address on file. If you no longer have access to that address, contact us and we will help.
